 When it comes to tree services, Cheat Lake, WV has a ton to choose from! It is important to check and make sure that they are a licensed tree service, are insured for work at height. WV requires one (1) million dollars of insurance coverage, although, for commercial and in general a company should strive to provide two (2) million in coverage as well as being bonded to their job. It is also helpful to make sure they are members of the International Society of Arboriculture, and their local chapter as well. Another great check is the Better Business Bureau. There is a difference between being on the BBB and being an accredited BBB business. When becoming accredited, it takes a review from specialists that make sure that you are able to provide a superior service and meet their standards.  It certainly has been a windy winter so far, and with that comes a lot of downed and damaged trees. It is important to have an arborist or tree service come out and take a look at your damaged trees quickly to mitigate any potential risk of decay, or disease from affecting it. In addition, your arborist may be able to take a good look at the other trees around and spot other damaged trees or tree hangers and other broken branches defying gravity for an unknown amount of time. Sometimes the tree may just look like "a little bark has fallen off of the sides", or that "it may be leaning more than it used to" (actual quotes from two of my estimates today!), when in fact it may be a 100' spiral ripped full height non-mature woods wild cherry that has broken at 20 feet and is leaning over an expensive fence into the neighbors maple, or a massive poplar that is uprooting from the base.  These types of damage that arborists see often, and in our area more often than us...

 The storm seemed to affect our home location a lot more than it did the Morgantown, or Cheat Lake areas. We did obtain a list of locations where there were possible trees that had come down. This storm proved to have some damage, but not near as much as our storms last year at this time. We did go around and look at some preventative trims and removals for new clients. I am happy to say that we were able to spend some extra time explaining the health and benefits of keeping trees, rather than removing them to multiple clients, and we were able to put some plans together for light trims and cabling to keep some mature trees in place, while making them much safer for the property owner and neighbors.  A Climbing Pic from a preventative tree last year:  www.wvtrees.com
